OUR COURSES

A cornucopia of loveliness.

Our courses will always be machine-tooled to get your teams delivering better projects, every day. Every course is classroom-based for up to 12 participants.  The courses are a mixture of straightforward training, combined with interactive exercises and group discussions around the topics.  All our sessions are led by our fully house-trained project manager, Jeremy – you’ll be getting someone with nearly two decades of experience in project management.  You can tell by the way he walks the walk*, he’s a project man, and loves to talk.

HALF DAY

PROJECT PLANNING

HALF DAY

PROJECT RISKS

HALF DAY

Participants will understand how to approach a project from the perspective of the project sponsor. What are your specific accountabilities and how do you ensure that the project manager is delivering their end of the bargain? Participants will learn how to be effective sponsors, which questions to ask of their stakeholders, their role within a wider governance organisation, and how to critically review a project report.

Course modules:

  • The six key principles of project management (sponsor’s cut)
  • The role of the project sponsor

What makes a good project plan? Participants will gain a high-level overview of the techniques used to build and manage a robust and credible project schedule. They will understand how to bring together a group of individuals with different skillsets to create a single, coherent plan as well as techniques for estimating, challenging and working together to keep the plan on track.

In the second half of the session we’ll look at why project communications are often an afterthought?  A lot of the tools are already there!  Participants will learn how to effectively communicate about their projects.  They will learn how to use the plan, reports, summaries, diagrams, and other tools to communicate.

Course modules:

  • The best laid plans: building your project schedule
  • Talk to the plan: effective project communications

Participants will gain an understanding of the core principles of risk management.  They will learn about the risk management cycle including how to identify, score and prioritise risks as well as strategies and techniques for mitigating risks on projects.

We’ll also look at how we should talk about risk. Participants will learn how to ensure risk is managed through all elements and artefacts of their project.  They will understand how risks can be factored into their costs and project schedule and how to talk about risks through reporting.

Course modules:

  • What could go wrong? An introduction to risk management
  • Risky business: incorporating risk into your costs, schedules and reporting
