What makes a great Business Case? What information needs to be included? And what can be safely left out? The Cracking Business Cases half-day course introduces participants to the purpose, structure and content of a Business Case document as well as providing practical tips and examples of how to write really compelling Business Cases!
Divided into two sessions, the first half puts the business case into context and looks at what makes a really great one. The second half is a workshop where we put those learnings into practice to create and critique a business case of our own.
Session 1: The Business Case in context
In the first session, we help participants to understand the function of the Business Case and where it sits in the project lifecycle. We then explore the content and structure of a Business Case to make sure your next one really sings! We’ll look at:
- The Business Case in Context
- What a Business Case isn’t
- Ownership and contents of a Business Case
- Things you should know (but don’t need to include)
- Things it’s OK not to know
- Things to leave out
Session 2: A worked example.
In the second session, we bring this all to life, by working through a real-life business case. By assessing the business case in small groups, participants can put what they’ve learnt into practice straight away. For this session we can use a sample business case provided by us (this will be a mock-up based on actual business cases we have seen), or – better still – we can use an actual business case from your organisation as a live case study. In any event, this session really helps to land and cement our understanding of how a Business Case should look.
Sounds incredible, right?
